Question Inconsistant Volume Control

I am using Sage 6.3.1 on Vista ... Sage seems to act weird with Volume Control. I have my Firefly Remote set for Volume Control using EventGhost and the commands provided for linking in Sage.

When watching Live TV or Recorded TV and adjust volume the the Volume OSD pops up moves and the volume changes appropriately.

However, I was watching Tekzilla Online last night and noticed whn I adjusted the volume the OSD poped up and moved, but the volume didn't change??

I took Sage out of full screen and change the volume using the Vista controls and the volume adjusted fine.

Is this a bug or does Sage treat recorded videos different that online videos, or am I missing something?

I was having a similar problem and tried several things. I changed some settings in the sage.properties file and could get the volume control to work on everything else but then the recorded shows had no control. Finally I installed the "Vista Codec Package 4.6.5" from "Free-Cedecs.Com" and everything works as it should.

You may want to try that and see if it helps you.

Thanks Bill ... Am a little paranoid with free codecs ... Did that once before and jacked my system up. Sounds like you had a better experience ...

Any other thoughts on this? Is the only solution risk the free codecs?

Hi, I have the same issue. Inoticed when Iwatch streamed video I cannot control the volume. I clicked on the speaker icon in my task tray and clicked on mixer (Windows Vista) and theere is another 'player' running besides sagetv. I adjust that volume and it worked. Adding a codec does seem to make sense for this issue. I will try it and see if it works. I will report back soon.
Thanks,
B
