Timezone/EPG timeshift problem I can't cure

Hello all,
I have been using Mythtv until it imploded so thought I would try Sage on Ubuntu again.
I have a fresh install of 8.04 with all updates installed and have a nova-t-500 installed with amplifier on option enabled, so that works fine. I have sage server and placeshifter running on the same machine.
I have selected BST europe/london as my timezone and europe/london in Ubuntu with sync to ntp server. I have enabled sytem to epg sync in sage. The trouble is my epg is 1 hour behind actual time although it shows the correct programme details.
I've tried everything and searched the forums but I can't get it to change. I've rescanned the epg, I've changed to GMT, but nothing alters it. Where can I force the timezone?

Another thing: when I start the placeshifter the mouse and cursor nip around the screen but soon slow right down until there is a noticable lag on the cursor position and the item highlighted. There is also a freeze/stutter in the picture every 10seconds or so as if the computer is running at 100% cpu. Any clues how I can find whats causing this?

Thanks in advance
P4HT 3.2Ghz 1Gb memory, 400gig SATA nova-t-500 tuner

I had the same problem. Have just selected a GMT+1 time zone. That seems to do the trick. Still looking for a way to get times to be displayed in 24h format.

I seem to have pretty much the same setup as you with a nova-t-500. Now, at each boot, the channels are lost. There is one issue after the other. Struggling with all of this quite a bit. For some reason I want to get away from Windows. But after playing around with Ubuntu for a while, I always get back to Windows, because it just works. Until next time I get fed up with it and give Ubuntu another try...

Thanks, I know what you mean, I have an XP box running most of the time - no problem but keep trying Linux to try to 'be safe'. Can't load programs, unexpected errors (firefox just closed for no reason, for example, on a brand new install!). Ah well, we're getting off thread...

What timezone did you use, I'll select the same if that works. I don't know how to select 24hr format, I don't think thats an option unfortunately.

Thnaks again

I can't check my setting right now. But I picked something like Paris, Berlin, Rome. I haven't done a huge amount of testing, so not sure if it has any side effects. Fixes the program guide though.

For info, people in London UK, don't bother with either BST or GMT, scroll down a bit further to, if I remember, 'GMT +1.00 +1.00\-1.00' or something similar. It doesn't have a location to it, so maybe it's there as a work around. I noticed an entry for most other timezones +2 +3 etc without locations.
I didn't think it affected the guide, but of course all my recordings were an hour adrift!!

Wonder if it's resolved in 6.4? Time to download and try it.
