No channels with Pinnacle PCTV HD 800i

Hello,

I am evaluating SageTV to replace Pinnacle TV Center Pro as it doesn't have all of the features I need. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get SageTV to recognize any digital channels. Here is my setup:
Intel 2.4GHz quadcore
8GB Ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
Two Pinnacle PCTV HD 800i PCI cards
During the SageTV setup it sees two Analog Video Capture devices, but no digital capture devices. I have selected the analog video capture device and set the input as Digital TV Tuner. But still, no channels are found. I can confirm that both cards are function in Pinnacle TV Center Pro and finds all my channels including HD Clear QAM channels.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yeah... I have that tuner card. It works pretty well with the crappy Pinnacle software "TV CENTER PRO" but it's not officially supported by SageTV yet. I sent an official request for support a few weeks ago.... and their reply was "okay, we'll look into it."

It wouldn't hurt for you to request official support also.... as this forum is only user / peer to peer support.

I think if Sage can access the Clear QAM portion of the tuner like TV Center PRO, then all should be kewl. But... til then.... either be patient, or grab another Clear QAM tuner to use with Sage.

I will say, the PCHD 800i card has a great picture quality when used with the Pinnacle software. I'd love to have Sage Tuning it.

Regards,

Wirenut

I have that card too. The easiest way to deal with it is to follow the following steps:

1) Open PC
2) Identify card in PCi slot
3) remove
4) Throw away

Optional:
3a) stomp with heavy object

Honestly that card was such a PITA. I had to download a third party software MPEG encoder to get the lipsync issues worked out in XP MCE> And the included software crashed and burned whenever I tried to run it. You're better of getting an Hauppauge HVR-1xxx. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but sometimes it's just not worth it.
