Media center ir receiver with ir blaster

I got a laptop (a long time ago) Toshiba Qosmio media center laptop and it came with a media center remote and the usb ir receiver. I am testing Sage TV (21 day trial). I also have a logitec 880 remote. I am wondering if it is possible to use the IR receiver/IR blaster with sagetv. I did the intial setup and it did not detect the receiver. Can I do anything to change that.

Thanks
Bill

No. The ir receiver needs to be recognized as the ehome receiver in device manager. It may have it's own "MCE compatible" IR receiver. But you may want to try it out with Eventghost or LM Remote. Google Eventghost or search the hardware forum here for LM Remote.

I can control the sagetv via my remote but it will not change the channel on the box. I had to train media center to do this, Do I have to train Sage to do this??

The MCE compatible remote will work with SageTV (as you discovered) but the MCE blaster will not unless you use 3rd party software such as LM Remote or StephaneM's MCE remote application. Check out this thread:
