multiple (2) tuner cards and stb setup ?
I am wondering : using 2 tuner cards and 1 stb (cable) can i send the signel to the 2 tuner cards so that I could say watch ch #225 while recording ch#215
or would I unfortunietly need an stb for each card? thanks in advance. whoever |

I think that you would need an STB for each card as you can only have the STB tuned to one channel at a time, both tuners are just going to show the same channel.

You'd need a box that can output two channels simultaneously and provides independent IR or Serial control of each output. I'm not aware of any such boxes.

ok, when configuring a tuner there are 3 options:
- use tuner on capture card to tune cable tv - use tuner on capture card to tune analog/broadcast - use extrnal cable or satalite box to tune channel wouldn't the first option allow me to use one cable box with multiple cards? to me it looks like it would just use the box to descramble the channles above 100. thank you for your help, whoever |

The problem is a cable box can only "descramble" 1 channel at a time.

so thereis no way around it? I need a stb per tuner. Do you know of any stb's that can descramble more then one channel at a time.
is there a vommand to change the cuurnt tuner? ie: if watching tv on tuner 1 i could then view tuner 2. Thanks for helping. |

so if using an stb to recieve channels the tuner cards doesn't do any tuner no matter how you try to set it up, it will only "change the channel" on the stb. unless using 1 stb per card

It sounds like you are using cable correct? Do you still get your "basic expanded" via standard coax (from the wall)? If so, you could use one tuner to tune just the basic expanded channels (usually 2-70ish) by hooking a cable directly from the wall to the tuner and then the second tuner could be used to capture from your STB. It won't allow you to watch 2 shows if both are above channel 150ish, but if you are watching say channel 65 and someone else wants to watch 215, then that could be done. otherwise you will need to STB's.
