Video pause on Live TV during Time changeovers
I'm running 6.5.6 and I've notices that since 6.5.5 that when watching TV the video will go black for a sec or two whenever a show would be ending. For example at the top of the hour or every 30 min depending upon the channel. Its like Sage is having to retune the channel.
I do have the option set to use different tuners when recording back to back shows if possible so not sure if that could cause this. I only see the issue though when watching Live TV. Its not a huge deal but it looks like a bug. Rob |

This is actually by design. LiveTV is a recording (usually delayed by about 5 seconds), which is what allows you to rewind and pause livetv. When a new show starts (at the 1/2 hour or hour), Sage recognizes it as a new show and starts a new recording. You can reduce the amount of "hiccup" when this happens by turning off "Always Tune Channel" (or whatever the setting is), although if you record from a STB at all you will not want to turn this off.
Hope that helps explain it somewhat.

I was told by sage support that turning off the always tune doesn't effect the HD-PVRs. They have a bug in the driver that forces Sage to always tune no matter what. Also if you have the bla bla bla delay setting set (which you have to to change channels for live tv) that extra time will cause the pause between shows to be extra long.

Sometimes for me, it hangs the UI for a bit. Like the video will nto start unless I stop it and go back to that channel. Anybody else getting that? Started when I upgraded to 6.5.6 and it did it again last night (6.5.7) twice.

I'm running 6.5.6 and I noticed as well that when watching LiveTV and a new program starts the video appears 'paused' for about 10 seconds or so before it starts back up again. I have 'always tune channel' enabled. Using SageTV with DirecTV. Viewing on an HD-200.
When running the latest official release I didn't have this issue. When the program changed it was maybe a second or so hiccup if that. If I'm not mistaken the sagetv service is also consuming more memory now. Perhaps I'll try upgrading to 6.5.7. *update* I was able to solve my particular issue by downgrading Java from v6 Update 11 to v6 Update 4. I was going to go back to Update 10 but I had Update 4 on hand. My Recordings menu comes up pretty sluggish still. Last edited by AtomicPenguin; 01-20-2009 at 08:14 PM. |
