Upgrade Path for old SageTV users

I am still running the version 4 software with the first release of the Media Extender. The system is still working great, but is starting to show its age a bit, and I would like some of the new functionality with the later release. My main questions are, am I going to have to purchase a new PC, and has sub-title support improved in version 6?

Current specs are
Intel 2.2Ghz Dell Branded motherboard
512 MB RAM
Windows XP (Home) SP2
Java 1.4
Happague PVR 150 x2
250 GB IDE HDD
Video out is on an ATI Radeon 9100

Currently I stream stuff I download from my remote server in my barn, so I am going through 3 routers, and 2 switches from point to point. Any pitfalls from going in this direction would be appreciated as well..

Also recommendations on codec packs for the new software would be a great help as well.

Grin, I am reading the forums to see what others are doing, but figured I should ask too.

Keep the existing PC (maybe add more memory and storage) and use it as a headless server, and then buy a new extender!
