USB Flash for Movie Playback

I have been using 2 HD200's for Sage Playback and they have been great.

For our vacations we typically bring some DVDs with us and a DVD player. But the player is huge.

Can I put a DVD movie(VOBs) on a USB stick and play it back via the HD200?

Can the HD200 play back all the supported formats from a USB stick?

Yes, I have used some usb sticks for video playback. However, I only played some SD files. I have used hard drives (laptop) to play Higher def. You may run into an issue with USB sticks if they don't have a high speed transfer rate for high def.

FYI, h.264 HD PVR files will play from a USB stick at 13.5 Mbps encode rate without stutter. You mileage may vary, of course. And I'm not sure about if the HD200 will play DVD format videos. I tried from a hard drive and it accessed the VOB files but did not directly play the VIDEO_TS folder structure as a DVD. might be worth a dry run on your part. If nothing else, hadbrake is your friend. You can shrink a DVD movie to about 1-2 GB with much lower bit rate, making it not only more likely you will have no playback issues, but you won't have to worry about DVD structure either and you can fit more movies.
