newer firmware on hd200 problems with hi bit rates

IS no one else seeing this?

I'm now running 6.6.1 but this has been true with all versions for the last couple months.

When I playback a blu-ray either from a straight rip or from an MKV or from a disk in the blu-ray drive and watch it on an hd200 I have problems. If my hd200 is running the 5/5 firmware all is good (except that firmware has some other issues with subtitles etc.) If I run any newer firmware the movie hitches and pauses like crazy. some firmwares are worse then others, but all versions since then (including the latest live/gold version) have some version of this problem.

If I've down sampled the blu-ray to a lower bit rate sometimes it's fine, but all hi bit rate movies have this issue. No issue with recorded TV.

The kicker is that the firwmare for the HD100s has gotten so good that I can watch most of these blu-ray items (all the same formats) with almost no hitches except under the highest bit rate moments (I watch the network graph in task manager under XP on the server while streaming to an extender.)

Really seems like something weird is going on, especially if I'm the only one having this problem.

Thanks

Does it freeze for a number of seconds, then play faster than normal until it catches up to where it should have been?

I observer this exact behaviour with my HD200 on high bitrate files.

Have you tried this?

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...89&postcount=3

I had problems with blu-rays until I edited the value to what they said in the thread.

This fixed my blu-ray problems on the HD200 and I can also watch the 3 blu-rays I have on the HD100 too.

I'll try this,

Quote:
miniplayer/forced_max_push_size=32768

on the server in the Sage.properties file (do it while SageTV is not running). That'll use smaller buffer sizes for sending data to the extender and that *might* work better with reading directly from the driver itself.
but my problem is with files as well as actual disc playback.

and no, my problems aren't pause followed by speeded up playback. just pause/hitch followed by normal playback, and repeat. usually only seconds (5 to 10) of normal playback between pauses. and again, if I use the 5/5 firmware these same files and discs playback perfectly.

thanks

update.

Actually, last night settled in around 11 to watch some TV, in particular a hi-def recording (warehouse 13) made with hd pvr on the hd200 that was running the current July release firmware and it too had these pauses and hitches. So, immediately rolled back to 5/5 firmware and was immediately able to watch my show (love the USB installs, very fast.)

When I'm not warn out from work and little league will do a update to current firmware again and test the change suggested above, but do think it's interesting/informative then even relatively low bit rate hi def files even have tis problem.

thanks
