Slow UI with MC and ITV plugin with Fanart

Hi All,

I have just turned in fanart and when scrolling through movies it takes anywhere from 2 - 6 seconds to go from one movie ot the next. This is on the HD200 and its slow on the server as well.

I have changed the size of the images so they are all pretty much less than 200kb some even smaller. Is there any settings i can change to fix this. I already have my OSD time set to 5ms for user inactivity.

Thanks

Joe

Sounds like you're running out of Java Memory. There is a registry setting that can up the max amout of RAM the Java process on the server is allowed to use. (Java Heap Size). There is a tool here that will let you easily change this number. The default seems to max at 200MB. Most have found decent results raising the max to 512 or 768MB. (Which is Hex 200 or 300, respectively)

i checked the JVM heap size it was 400MB already i changed it to 512Mb and it made no difference. The slowness isnt the loading of the fanart or the posters it is scrolling from one video to the next. As soon as it scrolls the fanart is there instantly. IS there some animation setting that you can change?

What versions of Sage and SageMC are you using? Also, is this using SageMC's default library screen, or an add-on like SageMovieWall?

Hi Jsut another thing i notice.

Some posters i scroll between i cna scroll between them very quickly. Like less than 1 second. If i keep alternating between the two. But then others take ages. As I have said The images are all less than 200kb

THey where large previously over 1MB. And i went and resized them all and then did a media refresh. Would there be any cache of the larger files cuasing issues that dont get cleaned up?

There might be. There is a Cache folder in the SageTV folder that you could clear out. Also, after changing the heap size, did you restart the sage service? Go to the Setup screen and look for the JVM Memory numbers (or something like that). This is where it should display how much memory the server is using.

Also turn scaling on if it is off. I would also up the java heap to 750mb to 1gb my suggestion.

I'm confused by this registry settings program. Do I run it on my WHS box?
