Refresh Metadata

Hey Everyone,

Not really sure what's going on but I use to have this working seemlessly. I recently upgraded my SageTV Server to the latest 6.6.2 (I think), and grabbed the latest SageMC. Now in "my videos" I have a ton of movies under "Unassigned". What it looks like is happening is it's trying to compare my DVD Profiler info it's using metadata now instead of the filename....and some of my movies have wrong metadata titles. I've tried to use VLC to change the title on the metadata but it's not saving.

Any thoughts or way to fix this? I can edit the video info in Sage but it doesn't actually save it to the MKV file...it just keeps it in the Wiz.bin (which I recently had to delete and start over due to a corruption).

Yes using the SageMC version from 8/1/2009, and not sure what Phoenix is?

I am refreshing everything now. What will this do for me exactly? It would be nice to have an option to use filenames or metadata titles....or is there some sort of software out there that lets me change the metadata title?

Download and use BMI and use the web interface to edit titles that is the easiest way.

Tried using the web interface and the MKV file does not get changed at all. Still shows the same info. Grrrrr....

I had a similar issue with SageMC and BMI (Batch Metadata Importer). When I used the Web BMI, it messed up my file system view in SAGEMC. When I removed all the import directories and waited for sage to clear them out, I re-added the import directory and they all appeared normal again. If I let BMI automatically get the metadata, then it appears to be fine. BUT, anytime I used the web to change or update, it threw it back out of wack!

This is because you weren't running the latest sagemc and phoenix api to correspond with the latest bmi. BMI changed the way it writes the titles so for file system to work you have to run latest beta sagemc and latest phoenix jar 1.44

I stoped using BMT because I had problems with it grabing wrong data or no data...

I now just manually make my own .properties files

Title= <Movie Title>
Description=<Description>
Rated=<Rating>
RunningTime=<MIN*60000>
Genre=<Genre>
Year=<Year of Release>

Those are the fields I use. There are others (like DIRECTOR and ACTOR), there should be a post somewhere that has all the valid types.

If for a file, ie Movie.Avi, the property file should be "Movie.Avi.Properties"
If for a DVD (and I assume a BD) the property file should be the same as the root folder for the disk ie C:\DVDs\Movie\VIDEO_TS, C:\DVDs\Movie.Properties

As far as BMI goes, I never once messed with the settings. I actually had trouble getting the Web UI for it to work so I just imported it and ran it. It worked like a champ from the start. I have read multiple posts about it not fetching certain metadata for certain files but it has done the job. Have I just gotten lucky?

The only problems I have had are for shows like The Jay Leno Show. Since it is a somewhat new show, it thinks it is still the Tonight Show and dates it back to 1992. A simple search on thetvdb fixed that.
