Dish VIP211 convert DD to Dolby Pro Logic?

Anyone know if that is the case? The Dolby Digital feed to my HDPVR has started flaking out, so I switched over to RCA outputs while the guys at Hauppauge are processing my case.

So I'm just wondering if the Dolby Digital (AC3) sound tracks on channels are out put in Dolby Pro Logic from the analog output on the STB - which is not perfect surround, but far better than nothing right? Especially for TV shows......

RCA will be stereo and stereo ONLY. Your A/V receiver will have to decode the stereo to any other format.

But if it's stereo only, as you suggest, then there is no decoding necessary at the AV receiver right? Take a stereo signal and run it through Dolby Pro Logic and you still have a stereo signal?

i.e. the center and rear channels of Dolby Pro Logic won't be multiplexed in, if it's truly stereo only.

Go to your sound settings on your vip-211 and check PCM output only.
