Output to headphones and speakers?

My motherboard has a realtek 889 audio chip. With the software I can set it up so it outputs audio to the front headphone jack and spdif to my receiver.

However, I can only get SageTV to send its output to 1 device, the receiver (via Realtek digital output) or my headphones (realtek HD audio 2nd output).

How do I set it to send its audio to both audio output "devices"?

Thank you!

Edit: I am running SageTV client on Windows 7. I am not referring to a "codec" here but what seems to be called an "audio renderer(sp?)". I am interested in being able to do this as one of my family members is partially deaf and has trouble hearing unless the sound is pumped way up, however she can hear ok using headphones.

This doesn't directly answer your question - but... have you thought about plugin the headphones into the receiver jack? I think some receivers will allow audio thru BOTH the headphone jack & a speaker channel at the same time.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately, my receiver does not do that. If you plug anything into its headphone port, the audio is redirected to it and no sound form the speakers. It also doesn't handle the digital to analog or vice versa well. When plugging in headphones sound only comes from one side for bits or both sides but not very clear. If I do an analog connection to the receiver from the computer then headphone sound is clear.

The thing is, the computer does a very good job of outputting to both the headphone and spdif well. Using a music program my nephew setup, it can output audio to both the spdif and headphone devices at the same time and it sounds really nice.

I didn't setup the music program so I'm not sure what I need to be looking for in SageTV. I assumed this was standard for these types of programs and I was just missing something. Is this something SageTV is missing?

Edit: Nevermind, just talked to my nephew said SageTV doesn't support it but he has a way to make it work.
