How are you getting it to show the metadata while in folder view? What is your folder structure? Mine is like this:

\media\movies\title\title.ext

Also, mine is still showing the ugly folder icon over the cover art, but only in folder view.

Here you go:

Also, I think there may be a memory leak in your image scaling function. While it was running my server was at 50% CPU usage, and 1220 MB of RAM. After it finished, I had to restart the SageTV service to get it back down to its usual ~250 MB.

What you are seeing is how the V7 UI works. Since you have all your movies in a folder of the same name as the movie, it's showing you the folders. There might be a way to disable that but I'm not sure what it is.

So you have all your movie files in a single directory?

I do not know for sure since I have mine in a single directory but if your movies are in BDMV or VIDEO_TS file structure, they might show up if you switch to the DVD/BD view instead of Folder view. Just a guess...

DVD titles and Banner location

i updated to the newest version of the plugin that has eliminated some of the dvd titles under the posters but for some strange reason, not all of them are gone. I am using the 3x5 grid view but some titles "dvd:..." are not dissappearing. also, where does the Fanart banner show up? would that be for a different skin like malore only?

Banner isn't used anywhere. Probably won't be since it doesn't match with any of the elements in the default STV.

If you don't have Phoenix fanart for an item it won't remove that items title. I might change that in the future to just blindly remove stuff, but for now that's how it works.

it does however show movie poster images and the dvd titles as well...so it is not blank. Could that be because i also have mymovies WHS doing collection management for my dvd collection.? in addition to metadata tools..

It's possible. Check your central fanart folder and see if you have a Poster for one of the movies that still has text on it.

That seemed to be the issue. I tried to update as many of the dvds with alternate metadata using bmt..however, there are still some dvds that i can't find info from the available sources in the web GUI but i am able to find dvd cover pictures from other sources including mymovies/web search. Is there a way to transfer manually the jpg into the metadata file/poster folder so that the dvd title gets removed automatically? i notice that the file names in the poster folder are particularly convoluted likely with tag information not just a simple movie name..

As long as you follow the folder naming convention for the central fanart location:

Movies/<movie name>/Backgrounds
Movies/<movie name>/Posters

you can drop any jpg in Backgrounds or Posters and the phoenix_api will work for it. Doesn't matter what the name is, just the location in the folder.

Which source of fan art brings in the picture of the DVD case, rather than a poster? Not a fan of those, they ruin the wall.

what's the best way to organize multi disc shows or dvds of several seasons of a show...for example i have a jacques cousteau documentary with 6 dvds disc 1-6 show up on the grid..i would like to make it either select one and it will ask which dvd to play (unlikely) or have all 6 dvds with the same information...with a folder for poster/backgrounds for each disc in the series inthe fanart folder...??

There's not really a way to do that with the current Sage offerings. My Movies, when PLUCKY gets done with it, might handle multiple discs better....

While you can't just edit the fanart location directly, the you can edit the fields the determine it's location. Fanart is located in

CENTRAL_FOLDER/MEDIA_TYPE/SHOWNAME/[Posters|Banners|Backgrounds]

So from the web ui, if edit the Movie TItle, Media Type (TV or Movie) then you are changing the location of the fanart as well.

folder.jpg

I really like Phoenix Fanart for SageTV V7 - browsing movies and series is a pleasure.

Dealing with home videos is a little bit tricky. I would like to indicate some folders with a logo (holiday, birthday, ...) so I placed a folder.png in these folders. These image is shown when browsing folders (which is fine) but it is also shown for every video in theses folders where no fanart is found (which ist mostly the case for all home videos). As a result mostly all home videos in the same folder are shown with the folder.png image.

Is there any option to tweak so folder.png are only show for folder and not for video items ?
