Used SageTV HD200 over priced on eBay - Why??

Can anyone explain why someone would buy a used SagTV HD200 on eBay for $230 + shipping when they are availabe new at sagetv.com for $180 + shipping. I have been watching HD200 for the last 6 months on eBay and they are ALL selling for over $200.

Why is that... am I missing something?

Probably because they aren't currently available?

Just looked - 4 completed sales in the last 2 weeks

$249.99
$190.00
$222.50
$257.00

One active for $235ish...

Demand is definitely out there for them.

Selling now would be a good move if you're a gambling man and believe an hd300 is right around the corner.

supply and demand. There is no easy supply of them (sold out at Sage, as mentioned above), so the price of any available units goes up.

HD100's are selling for a bit less. I recently picked up two units for less than $150 each. I'm just putting them on SDTV's so I don't think there will be any difference between the hd100 and hd200 for that use.

You could also use HD100s for HD. I have one in the master bedroom and one in my daughters room. For what it's worth my daughter watches blu-ray rips without issue.

Simple economics:

Demand > 0
Supply = 0

It will be interesting to see if the premium remains, particularly if the HD-300 rumours turn out to be true.

When were any HD200s last in stock? It seems like it was months ago.

I bought one on 23/04/2010 just before they ran out of stock, so it has been a bit less than 3 months.

I paid 179.95 + 57.00 postage + 50.00 customs fees.

If by rumors, you mean "people on this forum hoping out loud that it will happen".

(correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there has been the slightest hint from anyone at Sage that the HD300 might on the way)

There wasn't a hint before the HD-200 was introduced - they were just out of stock on the HD-100 for many months, just like now.

And a note for one of the beta updates a week or two ago mentioned a certain feature "for HD-200 and above" or something like that which hasn't been seen before.

I think that that is pretty much the definition of rumor. If anyone at Sage had so much as hinted at an HD300 then it would be more than a rumor.
