No stereo audio on HD300 with SPDIF
So my HD 300 finally arrived yesterday and I excitedly replaced the HD 200 on my main TV. I was able to successfully watch a bunch of shows recorded on my HD PVR HD and non-HD but unfortunately I am getting no audio when watching shows recorded with my older PVR 150/250. I am able to hear the audio for these shows on my HD 200 and client.
The HD 300 is connected to my stereo using SPDIF and I've tried both PCM and Bitstream but both produce no audio for non HD PVR shows. Has anyone else had similar audio issues? Any suggestions out there on how to fix it? UPDATE: - music does not play either - all audio works when HD 300 is in stand alone mode Thanks.

I updated to the latest Beta yesterday.
UPDATE: I reverted back to the release firmware and still have the same audio issue.

I am able to watch the same TV shows on the HD 300 in standalone mode. It is only when being used as an extender that the audio does not work on 2 channel sources.

Well it turns out that when the HD 300 was in extender mode its volume was at zero. Since I always use my receiver to control volume I never thought to check the UI's volume level.
I also find it odd that digital audio didn't have the same problem.

Sorry for adding to this thread, but semi-related issue. Running SageTV 7 (up to date, obviously), client is HD300 in extender mode (latest Beta firmware), and outputs from HD300 are Component breakout to TV and S/PDIF to AV Receiver. Standalone audio settings are for PCM last time I configured the HD300.
Went to watch a TV recording (OTA broadcast HD), and picture streamed fine, but had no audio. When I minimized the screen (was navigating toward Setup to see if I screwed something up, but left the show playing back) the audio started while it was in the small tile mode! Then getting back to full-screen...sound went out again. Opened the Options menu during playback and went to default audio language, saw 2 options (eng AC3 5-1 and spa AC3, first being selected). Toggled it to the other and did hear the secondary audio track (weather robot voice), then toggled it back and voila, had audio. Any suggestions as to why it was selected to the correct audio track, audio was obviously recorded, but it didn't really start playback? Watch the show to conclusion (server was recording 2 others - HDHomeRun dual), then navigated away and back to the show and restarted - same thing, no audio on initial playback. DVD rips from my Video library correctly play audio on the extender (tested both DTS and Dolby 5.1 tracks). Any suggestions? Here's the only snips from the HD300 clients file I can find that I would think might have something to do with this from the server side: miniclient/disabled_audio_codecs= miniclient/push_dump_debug_file= miniclient/transcode_mode=DVD miniclient/transcode_mode_6ch=DVD6Ch miniplayer/last_volume=1.0 Note that on initial playback the OSD does show the volume set all the way up in the top right corner (using the Serenity 7 theme). Starting a playback of the same TV recording directly on the SageTV server DOES play audio, so I've confirmed the track really is there. |
