Record based on original air date?

Is there any way to set up a favorite to record based on the original air date? Not something many people would use much, I know, but I was thinking that there are a handful of my family's favorite shows that we regularly record reruns of so that there's always something to watch. But we don't really want to see most of the later seasons of the Simpsons again, for example.

I see there's a "Year" qualifier in the Favorite options, but it doesn't seem to do what I'm asking. Actually, I can't quite figure out what it does do.

Is there any way to do this, either built-in to Sage or through an add-on?

Year is for movies. There is no way in the core to do it by original air date. You could write a script or plugin of some kind to search through your EPG and find airings within the desired original air date range. The upcoming SJQv4 plugin would provide a facility to make this task easier, but you'd still have to write the actual scripting logic to do the searching and scheduling (of manual recordings; you can't create a Sage favourite to this, afaik).
