I liked how SageTV 7 could ignore "The", "A" and "An" from program titles when sorting lists by name. I'd like it if Phoenix could do the same.

I realize I eluded to this in another thread, but how about adding caller ID support into Phoenix since ShadeBlue is not active in the community anymore...

Online Videos Navigation

I'd really like the navigation in Online to mimic the STV. Getting bumped back to the home landing zone is a real bummer!

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I'd like it if the guide would reset to the current time upon exit and re-entry.

Right now, if I go ahead a few days to find a program to record, exit the guide, then re-enter the guide, it starts at the few days ahead position instead of the current time. It's a pain to have to hunt for the current time bar...

Hit Options, then 'Goto Current Time'

or, to put it another way,

"Options -> Up -> Select"

btl.

Cool.

That works. Can this be set as the default behaviour when you go to the guide?

Unless I've missed it, manual conversions to the transcoder and IMDB searches.

Protecting files with a PIN is very high on the list now. Right after a consolidated Delete framework.

Bialio,

I sent ya a msg a few days ago with some code that you could maybe (or maybe not) use for possible trailer integration, it just jumps to the default stv for online youtube search but inputs the proper search string that would return a trailer for the movie currently highlighted. Not sure if you saw it or not.

I saw it - that's something we'll add eventually, but I think we had something native to phoenix in mind for that. Once the code stabilizes some we'll turn on plugins, where you can create a mod like that that you can install also. But the code is in too much flux right now - I have actually changed quite a bit of the code that you were working in since the last release!

Really the one feature I'd like to see most is a rethink of the way Parental Restrictions work. I used to use the method of protecting a menu with a PIN in SageMC, but there were easy ways to bypass that.

Ideally, I think, we should be able to make specific files, menus and views completely invisible unless a PIN or Password is entered. This could be tied to security profiles. A default profile that has all non-restricted files/menus/views and a restricted profile wqith its own set of views/menus/files.

This would require a PIN/Password input option independent of the file browser -- unlike the current prompt, which only displays when you try to watch a restricted file.

Instead, if there were a password prompt (Enter PIN/Skip Pin) anytime Sage is started up or woken from sleep, or via a login bug in some corner of menu UI, it could check for permissions before loading any views.

I work a lot with a web site CMS (Joomla) that has a very similar Authentication system. If content is restricted to a specific user level, an unlogged-in visitor wouldn't even know it exists until AFTER a successful login is made.

I realize this would be a major change in the way Sage/Phoenix currently approach authentication, but it would probably satisfy any parent concerned about their kids browsing the wrong files, even if they can't play them.

This post is a bit old, but I haven't seen the subject touched again so I'm adding my vote to having the user categories accessible through the groupers and filters

With the default STV, we have custom views setup for each of us; e.g. my custom view only shows recordings with my user category; the wife's custom view only shows recordings with her user category; etc. Not sure if I could replicate this with genres since we both watch different shows in the same genres.

If this is not possible to replicate in Phoenix, I guess my request would be to fully support user categories and keywords via the favorites screen and filtering options in the XML. Displaying this in the detailed or summary information pages for the recording would be nice.

FOR RECORDED TV: It is possible to show the "old" Diamond view from TV Recordings when it shows a screenshot from the current tv eppisode and the comskip bar? The reason i "need" this is that my cable box has the bad habit of turning off from time to time without my permission and sage keeps recording with a blank screen, with the "old" diamond view i was able to see which program was recorded blank i could delete them.
