Prohibited Forum Topics: Twitter

There are a number of topics that cannot be discussed on this forum. With all the Google craziness, I think many people (myself included) have pushed the rules too far and have been dinged for this by Andy. Prohibited topics include: buying-selling, reverse engineering, trading keys, etc.

In an effort to better respect these rules, I propose that we take any/all prohibited conversation topics to twitter. By respecting the rules of this forum, we can ensure that Google doesn't change their mind and shut the forum down earlier.

I propose using a single hash tag to track the posts: #SageTVForum which will distinguish from the hundreds of other tweets about the Sage/Google deal (many of these use #sagetv)

EDIT: Instead of twitter, how about a google forum: http://groups.google.com/group/unofficial-sagetv-forum

I don't mind "going elsewhere" -- I just think that twitter is a horrible platform for well thought-out (aka wordy ) discussion(s).

Another forum would be great, but I haven't heard any offers from anyone for setting one up. Twitter probably works best for buying/selling.

Google can just shut you down faster using their servers.

May god of all place Evil_Attorney
You know I don't have a problem topics include: buying-selling, reverse engineering, etc but it all up to Jeff to allow for that then the Administrators and Moderators wouldn't need stop most of you.
Even if you where on shspvr forum even I wouldn't allow you start trading keys is not good idea.

Andy does seem a little heavy-handed. Though, he probably has to be to stem the tide of people wanting to buy/sell things on the forums. There's obviously a huge desire to do so, given that they took the store down.

actually, Dan (electron) from Cocoontech offered to give us our own sub-forum over at Cocootech... (fwiw, its a nice place, if you haven't been there...)
I cant find the post right now, but anyway, everyone said it was too soon, told him no...

but I would think trading keys would be out of bounds there too...
its not very nice...

To be clear, I am not advocating license purchases, extender purchases, swapping, reverse engineering or the like. However , I do believe it is important to be able to have an honest and frank discussion about these topics so people can understand the legality, ethics and risk of such things.

For example, buying-selling of extenders likely breaks the EULA, but many people might not appreciate these things or the nuances of the situation.

I don't blame Andy or Jeff for being strict. After all, these topics all at least touch on EULA violations, which are the bread and butter of most software designers.

+1 for cocootech. I think google, while ironic, is too dangerous.
