Added HD200..system constantly crashes
I'd previously been running Sage v7 with two HD300s, and no clients/placeshifter with only the occasional server shutdown. Since then, I have added a media MVP and several HD200s to the mix and I get constant server shutdowns. Needless to say, the WAF is rapidly dropping.
I believe that I've isolated it to the HD200s...I can run for a long time if I remove power from the HD200s while I watch on the other systems. However, when I again use the HD200...it will crash (I haven't noticed any causal event). I enabled debugging, but am at a loss as to what the logs are telling me other than a "sageTV SHUTDOWN is activating." I'd appreciate any insight into potential solutions. BTW: when this log was started, I had a single HD200 on the network, and a Media MVP that was never turned on Thanks, A |

For now I would delete all the client.properties files for all of your HD200. Then power them up and reconfigure them and load NO plugins for any of them. If the crashes still occur I would do the same for all of your extenders and load no plugins. Run them all with no plugins until you're sure it is stable. Then add the plugins back one at a time at each and run them for awhile. It is time consuming but the only way to narrow it down. But I would start with the HD200's because that seems where it began.

Thanks for the suggestions & I'll work through the steps. Inexplicably, it hasn't crashed in the last two days (before it would crash at least 5 times a day).
I tried to read through the logs and looked at the timestamps and compared them to my Windows events. it appears that Windows was commanding the shutdown based on an undocumented error. I'm still researching that...but at least I have some ideas to track down. Thanks! Update: Based on some other research, I focused on my Server vs Sage software. I updated my bios (seemingly unrelated fixes), reinstalled the NIC Drivers, removed Java & did a fresh reinstall of both 64 & 32 bit versions. Since then, I haven't had a crash. I started adding additional media extenders into the mix & we'll see how it goes. Last edited by Spot; 07-24-2011 at 09:39 AM. |
