Headphones and HD200
I have an (old) Samsung TV in the bedroom fed by an HD200.
Been wondering whether I can use my bluetooth headset to listen to TV without waking my wife. I've seen you can get 3.5mm headphone jack bluetooth audio transmitters but many of the reviewers complain about audio delay when used with TV. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience to share on this one? Thanks Michael |

The normal audio codec that Bluetooth uses has a latency of about 150ms, which is about 3 or 4 times what most people can handle.
There is a codec called aptX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AptX) that has a low latency mode that would work well for what you want, but you need to make sure both the "transmitter" and "receiver" both support it. Good luck.

Well in the end I bought a set of Sony RF wireless headphones as the local supermarket had them on a great offer.
They work well - no lag at all - except.... ...when the wife falls asleep while watching "couple" TV and I wanna switch to watching "action/sci-fi/etc" I have to carefully get out of bed to plug the transmitter headphone jack into the TV! If I wake her up getting back in to bed "couple" TV might be back on the agenda and I have to get out of bed again to unplug the headphone transmitter again. Haven't had a chance to play but I wonder if I could use the unused audio outs on the back of the HD200 with some conversion to 3.5mm headphone female and then just mute the TV when I want to use the headphones. Or does the use of audio out on HD200 disable audio going through the HDMI? Michael |

@Michael do you generally use the TV's speakers for the sound or do you route the sound through an AVR? If you used an AVR you could potentially plug the Sony headphones into an audio out jack so that they are always on and then use the AVR's remote, or a universal remote, to shut off the speakers. But that is making this a much more expensive proposition.
