no luck with HDHR Prime channels in new Ubuntu install

I'm setting up a new Ubuntu install following these instructions, but am not having luck getting my HDHomeRun Prime working. I'm using the latest Open Source version, and have my license key saved.

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62715

I have Sage itself running OK as far as I can tell, and have configured PrimeNetEncoder based on these instructions:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...267#post581267

I have run a channel scan via the www interface of my HDHR itself, and it locates 303 channels.

At this point, i'm not exactly sure what I should be doing with the video source in Sage. If I run a channel scan, I get a bunch of found new channels, but they all show up as "OKxxx" where xxx is a sequential number.

Those "OK" channels don't seem to work. If I enable a regular channel and try to watch it via the program guide, I see that Sage and PrimeNetEncoder try to get it going, but no data is actually streamed.

I can view channels via the HDHR GUI and VLC in Ubuntu, so that side of it is working. I'm just not sure how to get the PrimeNetworkEncoder working.

Also, when I tried to view channel 11 shown in the log above, i noticed via the HDHR GUI that the tuner did switch to that channel. A file was created in /var/media/tv, but it stayed at 0 bytes. Everything is running as sudo as well.

Any thoughts on where i should be troubleshooting here?

thanks
Matt

This may or may not be related, but I'm having a similar problem with a Win 7 SageTV Open Source install. It connects and tunes the HDHR but no data comes back over the network path and HDHR shows a connection but zero network data rate. I'm still troubleshooting and I'll report back.

OK, for me the problem was that I had missed that the "BDA Compatibility Mode" in the HDHR Setup needs to be set to "SageTV". Since your symptoms seem quite similar to mine, is it possible that you missed the same thing?

Hi, thanks, but I think that is just a Windows thing, not a Linux thing.

Maybe, but I would think that HDHR would have something equivalent on Linux if it's to work at all unless there's something special in the SageTV Linux version that isn't in the Windows version.

But I realize that you may know a lot more about it than I do.

Did you set a static IP for your SageTV server and add it to /etc/hosts file?

Hi.

Definitely don't let sage do a channel scan.

All hope is not lost. I can not remember if I put that in the setup or not. With PrimeNetEncoder, channel scan does not work correctly and I distinctly remember getting the same weird OKxxx channels.

The only way I know to select channels is to do it manually (unfortunately). At this point, if go back to channel selection (Setup -> Setup Video Sources -> Select a Source -> Channel Setup). Go to the item named "Edit Channel Lineup" and select "Disable All Channels"

At this point, I worked my way through the list enabling all valid channels, using the lineup listing in my hdhr. Note there is an extra view (see url below) that shows invalid channels as scratched out. I used this view as it made it easier for me to see how far to skip to the next valid channel.

I added some text to the PNE install guide, but I'm not sure if it is clear enough. See if any of the above helped. Let me know if you ned more help, once you have things working, I would appreciate any input on how to better write up the directions.

Thanks!
