It happened!

Now that I've some good runtime on the docker provided by Stuckless, I have shutdown my dedicated saget tv box. It has been runnins 24/7 since 2005, only down to replace a power supply once.

Now I'm down one energy sucking, heat and noise producing computer in my office!

thanks for all the help,
david

What are you running docker on? Unraid or something else? How beefy is that server?

I am running Unraid on an old clunker that is slow and i'm sure guzzling power. I'd need to upgrade it, I think, in order to run Sage on it comfortably. However, I suppose that there is little risk to trying it out and seeing out it goes before doing so.

unRaid and it has a AMD Phenom II X3, it doesn't seem to take much CPU as I only use clients.

If you don't need comskip processing or the transcoder you wouldn't need much for a CPU so your old clunker might do just fine.

I do want comskip, but I suppose if I could rig it up as a cron job (or otherwise have it only scan during off hours) then I could be OK.

I set mine to run nice, that should address CPU hogging issues.

I'm have mine on a dev. unraid box will soon make the switch over to my new unRAID server.

Did you use any cache drives in unRAID?

I'm currently running with 2 SSD cache drives, but, I ran it for about about a week without a cache drive and I can't say that I see much of a difference. Currently I have my dockers and the sagetv recordings directory on a cache drive.
