SageTv 6.5.1 Beta crashes when playing a recording
I installed the new 6.5.1 Beta last night. All seemed to go well, until I tried to play a recording. Sage simply !POOF! disappeared (crashed). I tried this several times with different recordings. All the recordings were from a different version of Sage, I didn't have it installed long enough to record anything.
I'm running XP SP3. I reinstalled 6.4.8 over the top of 6.5.1 and it is working correctly now. The install of 6.5.1 was over the top of the 6.4.8. I will wait a while and try it again. |

I was getting the same thing. Tracked it down to when I played a 720p MPEG TS recording from my HDHR with Cyberlink 7 or 8 decoders. Arcsoft is fine and NVIDIA doesn't crash but looks crappy on 1080i recordings. Not sure if NVIDIA decoder is decoding properly in EVR.

I tried to install the beta again. This time I used 6.5.2 and basically I had the same results. I start and load the UI but every time I attempt to play a recording !poof! SageTV crashes.
I noticed in the hs_errxxxx file that it maybe a Java related problem. # # An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment: # # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x05a0218a, pid=3952, tid=672 # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (10.0-b23 mixed mode, sharing windows-x86) # Problematic frame: # C [SageTVDX93D.dll+0x218a] # # If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit: # http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport/crash.jsp # The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code. # See problematic frame for where to report the bug. I only copied the beginning of the file. Because of this I tried to un-install and reinstall Java. I also tried changing several settings (overlay - VMR9, disable and re-enable 3D acceleration) |

Note that XP+EVR dosen't work you must use VRM7/9 or overlay
Vista ATI+EVR are know to crash as well Other crash possable which has to do with Audio codec try change MPEG2 Audio Decoder Filter to something else for now in tell the dev fix it. |

I installed the 6.5.5 beta and it seems to work OK so far. SageTV did not lock up when I tried to play a pre-recorded video.
I'll see how things go from here. |

This has been happening to me except it is while playing a DVD thru the Sage client on my server.
Every single DVD I have watched since installing the 6.5.x betas has crashed Sage in this manner (Poof! It's just gone.) Usually I can just restart the client and DVD but a few times even the backend service became hosed as well. (Client wouldn't restart, extenders could no longer connect, and webserver wouldn't load home page.) S |
