URC TX-1000

Anyone using the URC TX-1000 remote control? I am not having a Sage problem with it per se but a set up issue in that I cannot get it to send IR commands unless I am using the "test" button in the programming software. When it is unplugged from the PC, it does not send any IR commands.

Anyone else heard of this issue?

Did you update the remote after changing the setup in the software? If it is like the software for the MX-700, you have to send the update to the remote before your changes affect the remote itself.

It sounds as if you are now downloading the settings into the remote.

Downloaded OK

Yes...I downloaded the settings and my custom menus and macros show up but it is apparently only sending RF and not IR. Of course, I assume it is sending RF..I have no way to verify that.

Interesting problem since it works in "test mode"...I sent a query off to the mfg to see if they can help. I will advise of the solution if there is one.

If you select Program->RF Control, what do you see? I thought that the default was IR&RF. Does changing the settings make any difference? I think that test mode only uses IR, but I am not positive.

Smile

Thanks for the tip on the IR/RF. It was set to both but I set it to IR only for efficiency sake.

Nevertheless, that was not the trick...you might find this hard to believe ( but probably not really) but it turns out that apparently the URC tool to program the remote has some odd incompatibility with Vista 64 which seems to program the remote, but none of the IR commands are loaded. Very odd. I would expect a crash or something of the sort.

I hooked it to an XP 32 machine, downloaded my existing program into the remote and voila...it works!

When I tried to upload the settings that are currently on the remote, I get a "File Error 1" message and it won't let me upload anything.

Could this be because I'm using Vista?
