BMT question

I was wondering how do I tell if BMT is installed and funtioning on my sage server. I have sage 6.6 with sagemc interface. I do use IMDB in sage when i add a movie on my server.

if you have a jar called, metadatatools.jar, in the JARs directory, then you've at least exteacted bmt.
if you have the jetty server installed, and you can reach, "http://youhostort/bmt/" then you have the web portion installed.

if you've never configured the automatic plugin, then the automatic plugin will not be installed.
if you've never imported the .stvi/.xml then you don't have the on-demand plugin installed.

bottom line, is that you probably would know if you have bmt installed, since it's not just a drop it in there, and it just works type of plugin... there is some hand holding to get it working in different ways.

Thanks for your time

So last night I read the instructions. I already had the jetty webserver installed and functioning. I use it for the web interface for the guide favorites etc. I shutdown the sage service. I downloaded and extract the bmt 3.1 to sagetv sagetv. I restarted the service and could not get the bmt page to come up. I get the 404 error. I restarted my sage server. This did not help. I followed some troubleshooting instruction by looking for the bmt dir under webapps. The directory was not there. Can anyone help me get this functioning properly?

Thanks
Bill

Bill, even though 4.0 is still in beta... i'd still encourage you to use it over 3.1... the main reason is the web ui is much better in 4.0... if that matters. In 3.1, you'll also need the updated bmt context.xml and then restart.

Once I had problems with bmt 3.1(last night), I tried the latest beta (either 4.0 or 4.1). Last night I found that same link when I was trying to figure out my issue. I followed the instructions as directed per the link. The following directory was not present

3. remove jetty/webapps/bmt/ (directory not .war, if it exists)

I replaced the context.xml as directed. The only thing that happened was I started to get a java missing error. I still received the 404 error. Thanks for getting back so quick to me. The only way I could figured out how to get past the "java missing error" was to restore my sagetv directory from yesterdays backup and reboot. I am using the latest sun java build.

I think I figured out my problem. I believe I am using the "tiny java web server" for the sage web server plugin. SO now my question is how do I go about changing the web server to jetty and get back the sage web interface?

Thanks for all the assistance
Bill

So I got bmt 4.0 running on Jetty. The only issues I am having is:

There is a notice on the status page about the "Automatic plugin Enabled (server)=false

Shouldn't this =true ? I thought I had gone through and configured this to be automatic. I run a whs server with 2 hd200 extenders. I have not imported the automatic plugin on the server because the server is not used as a client also. Do I need to import the plugin on the server to get things to function properly? I have imported the plugin on one of the hd200's.

The second thing is it is reporting duplicate jar's. I ran the command line text to clean up duplicate jar's. On the status page it is still reporting the duplicate jar's.

Thanks
Bill

If you want to use the automatic plugin then the server's Sage.properties needs to be configured with the automatic plugin entry (be sure to shutdown sagetv first). Even though you are not using the server as client, the entire movie/tv database is on the server, and when new media items are added, it's the server's database that gets updated.

Also, as for the duplicate jars... if the commandline doesn't remove them, then you can remove manually as well.

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but I have been searching for the line to input into the sage.properties to make this function properly. Can you provide me with that information. I did not see it in the wiki documentation.

Thanks
Bill

Assuming you are running 4.0... you can use this section from the wiki.
