encoding for SageTV

ok basically i have my SageTV setup.. and its working fine with LiveTV...

the problem is i have a house in New York.. i live in California.. when i go to New York i have another computer with Sage TV.

I want it to basically be an extender and just pull everything from my HOME PC.

so when i click "live tv" it will open a stream from my home Sage TV (like a slingbox)..

this would be great and dandy but in reality this PQ will be horrible.

I have Adobe Video Encoder 3.1 and i want to try and encode outgoing Video through this because it will allow pretty decent HD video to be sent over a 1 Mbps upload line... and then to be transcoded at the house in New York... and be used as a live TV...

my question is how can i encode that stream (settings in Sage to when requested go through this encoder)..

2. on sage on the other end to know to search for a Live Video Feed that is encoded through this... ?

sounds like you need to look at SageTV Placeshifter. It is designed to do exactly what you want.

The HD extenders can do that too.

The biggest thing you can do to improve quality is to get more upload bandwidth in NY but that may be very expensive.
