Do clients have access to server directories?

Simple probably dumb question but do clients by default have access to directories under the server install location (ie sagetv\sagetv and all it's sub directories?). I didn't know if when sage installed it automatically gave clients' read/write access to these directories or not.

cheers

Extenders and Placeshifters behave as if they are on the server so yes.

Clients (SageTVClient) are local to the machine, any paths you give them/use are local/relative to the PC client is running on. The only server access I'm aware of is the SetServerProperty and GetServerProperty APIs.

Clients (not including extenders/placeshifter) can only see accessible network shares on the server. This has always been necessary for accessing comskip files on the server from a client.

The installer doesn't create network shares for the install directory, if that's what you're asking. And of course it can't know what user credentials the clients are going to be running under. You'd have to set that up manually if you need access to those directories from outside Sage.

From inside Sage you can use Utility API methods to navigate the server's file system. But the File objects you get back won't make sense except in the context of SageTV API calls.

Thanks guys I figured that was the case I would have to make them setup a network share. No big deal. Thanks for the confirmation.
