Understanding Browser Videos
I feel like I understand 70% of how studio actually works - but that 30% seems to have a steep learning curve.
When I am looking at Browser - Videos (As if I went to Videos -> Titles) - I see where the table is created to display the videos - but I don't see how that gets populated? I see in the script part of it where it checks the size of AllVideos and I see down below where AllVideos = AllVideos. I also see where it sets "TheVideoList to TheVideoList" but once again, I am missing the actual connection to the list of videos? Lastly, if I follow the references all the way down to "REM Display the video list table." I see where there is another table (I guess nested in the original table?) and it has a video item - but I can't seem to wrap my head around how the video item gets translated into the list of actual videos on the system. I am clearly missing something obvious, but can't quite figure out what that is.

The Table widget at BASE-87457 is under a Theme and does not contribute to populating the table with data. It just serves as a template for specifying properties common to all tables in the VideoBrowserPanel subtree. (See the Themes tutorial in the Studio manual for more info.)
The active Table widget is the one at OPUS4A-178356. Like all one-dimensional tables, it takes its data from its parent Action widget, in this case from TheVideoList. If you're asking how TheVideoList gets assigned, I haven't traced out the complete execution flow, but doing a Search on TheVideoList would be a good place to start. (If you haven't already discovered it, my Studio Tools plugin has a fairly flexible Search feature as well as a List Variable References command.)

Using gregs tools search for GetMediaFiles
That should be the start of getting data with filtering/grouping following that. |

As always - thanks a ton plucky. That did help me narrow down and figure out what was going on.

That should be covered by the Tables tutorial in the Studio manual. If you haven't already worked through those tutorials (or didn't understand them the first time), I highly recommend doing so.

Are you trying to figure out the concept of using Table widgets, or are you trying to figure out where the list of videos is created in the specific table you mentioned that uses TheVideoList?
For learning about tables & viewing examples of tables, I strongly suggest that you check out some menus other than the imported media browsers. The data in the media browsers isn't created in the UI chain of widgets -- it is manipulated and/or filtered in the UI chain, but the basic creation of the data for all the various media browser views is done in code under the Before/AfterMenuLoad hooks. It is designed to keep the slower code that builds those lists out of the UI chain and it loads the current view before the menu loads, then preloads the remaining views after the menu loads. - Andy
