Print a list of Videos (movies) with metadata.
Hi All,
I am trying to print out a list of movies and descriptions to paper. I know its a silly thing to do when you have such a great UI for browsing videos but heres why I want to do this: Atleast once or twice a week I have friends over for movie night and the hardest part is picking out a movie. Usually, I am the one holding the remote and with a bunch of people, I am not scrolling fast enough or to slow. Someone wants to see the decription of one movie and someone want to see the description of another. I want to just have a few print outs to hand out and say "here's your choices". I have a little over 500 movies so manually creating this list would be a real pita. Is there a way I can use BMT to help generate this list? Or, Is there any other S/W that can do this? If it came to it, where is the metadata stored so I can copy and paste it to a list? I am probably the only nutjob to do this so I'm not going ask someone for a plugin haha |

jdamore,
If you were a user of DVD Profiler you could have just about any type of list, report or coffee table book you could think of. You could add non DVD movie to the database also. Of course adding 500+ movies to start would be daunting but not impossible as the DVD Profiler interface is pretty easy to use. John Last edited by jrh995; 11-19-2010 at 02:08 PM. |

DVD Profiler or MyMovies are the sexy solution. The other way would be to create a program that could search through all your directories and find the *.properties files. Once it finds it, it could open the file, and read the movie description tag.
Truthfully, how many of your friends would not know what a particular movie is about. A really simple way would be to use DOS to simply print your directory out to a text file. for example dir /b /d >dir.txt This will creat a text file called dir.txt, in this text file will be a list of JUST the directories (from th e'/d' command). You can then import it into word or excel and clean it up a bit. The '/b' command uses the bare format, it gets rid of the heading (like the location) and brakets around the directories. You can even change the extension to '.doc' or '.xls' and then open it right up in word or excel. This would at least get you going until you find a sexier solution.
