BMT Metadata for Multiple Disc DVD Sets

What is the best method to list DVD sets with multiple discs so that they properly show in SageTV? For instance right now I have:

I:\The Godfather Part II\The Godfather Part II - Disc1\Video_TS
I:\The Godfather Part II\The Godfather Part II - Disc2\Video_TS

And so on for all multi-part DVD sets. When I used SageMC+DVDProfiler+DVDPro2Sage it would tell me in the SageTV menu UI which disc it is (i.e., The Godfather Part II - Disc1).

With BMT+Phoenix Fanart for SageTV V7 I just see two or more indistinguishable listing in the Sage UI (i.e., The Godfather Part II twice). I can go to View Video Detail and scroll down to see the file path, but that's not as user-friendly as a reference in the title in the main menu views.

So, if there is a method to do this, please let me know. Otherwise, maybe an enhancement for the future. I have the same issue with DVD sets for TV shows (i.e., Seinfeld , Rome) which is a much more pervasive issue than movies.

I think I may have answered my own question. I updated DVDProfiler and just re-indexed the movies with the metadata using DVDProfiler from BMT web UI and everything is appearing as I want. I thought I tried that earlier but I guess not.

I've recently run into this myself. Since BMT doesn't natively handle box sets, what I did was, manually edit the metadata for each item, and add "Disc 1" and "Disc 2" to the Title (not the Fanart Title, just the Title). Then they show the Disc # in the Title.

Just tried that and works as well. Perfect thank you!

I realize it's not very automated, but since I've been bitten by this myself... I'll probably be more motivated to solve the box set issue

Can you guys let me know how you got it to save? When I click "save" after editing the "Movie Title" I get "Failed to save metadata/fanart: Invalid MediaType" at the top and it doesn't save.

Actually I noticed a different bug myself in that bmt won't let me overwrite title any more.

I'm starting to thing that I might try to handle the box sets in bmt a lttle differently, but after xmas, I'll try to fix metadata editor so that it does allow the titles to be saved (again).

As for you issue, is there a "Media Type" selected when you do the save?

Ya, I've tried Movie and blank for the file type, and the title still fails to overwrite. This is my only problem with this awesome tool as it was very easy to use. I would recommend bundling the Phoenix fanart plugin with it as it took me forever to figure out that I needed it to display the fanart. Thanks, And Merry Christmas!

So DVD Profiler is working for you? Which version? Because whenever I do a DVD Profiler search I just get an instant "failed" response.

Did you set the image and collection.xml paths in the dvd profiler configuration? Also, as of a few builds back, the xml parser uses a stream parser so that it can process very large collections without getting an out of memory. Of course, since I don't actually have dvdprofiler, I can't really test this myself.

Yeah I do, just doublechecked that I had them right. They are pointing to UNC paths, if that matters. This is on my test machine so Sage isn't running as a service.

If you want, you can do a lookup from the web ui, and then create a support zip (just logs) using Help -> Create Support Request.

Maybe there's something in the logs that shed some light on this. I've done very little testing on the dvd profiler stuff. I've been tempted to remove it, since I didn't think that anyone was actually using it.

I had it working as of my last post. There have been a couple of BMT revs since then and I haven't tried it. I'm at DVDProfiler 3.7.

Everything seemed to work fine - BMT found the Collection.XML and used the data when I selected DVDProfiler in the search for Meta Data; it saved and SageTV displayed it properly.

I've been away for a few days and haven't tried it with the newest BMT or DVDProfiler 3.7.1.

I sent an email with some logs, though when I looked, nothing seemed obvious.

OK... I can't promise I'll get a chance to look at it for a couple of days I'll let you know what I find.

No problem, I'm going to be out for a few days too and I'm just playing at the moment anyway.

In SageTV 6.x I needed to upgrade DVDPro2Sage to the latest to support box sets correctly (using the - Disc1, - Disc2 title approach...)

Does SageTV 7 require a similar upgrade? Or is the DVDPro2Sage already the latest?

I'm pretty sure that is NOT a component of SageTV. Either 6 or 7. It was an add-on but also came with SageMC.

Sounds right - I run SageMC. With SageTV 6 it needed to be upgraded.

I assume it still does with the SageMC plugin in SageTV 7 since it is basically the same...

Anyone know for sure?

@Stanger89

I just tried again and DVD Profiler (3.7.1 (Build 1436)) is working in the Search for BMT (4.9.6). I use it to manually scan for meta data on some items, for instance Rome: The Complete First Season: Disc I.

Everything is completely patched with the latest versions.
