HD200 + Blu-Ray + Vizio Sound Bar

So I am trying to play back a Blu-Ray movie stored on my NAS, and while it works with my HD100 connected to an old Onkyo setup (at best, it supports DTS), I am trying to make Blu-Ray playback work with my bedroom setup, which is a HD200 connected to a Vizio Sound Bar via SPDIF. I get a short 'pop' sound, and just silence.

I tried both PCM/BitStream, but no luck. Regular media files play back just fine on that same HD200/Sound Bar setup, so I am guessing it has something to do with the way the Blu-Ray was ripped. Since I use AnyDVD HD, I can't configure many parameters, so hopefully someone will be able to point me into the right direction.

The Sound Bar does show an error light, which according to the manual is a compression issue, and tells me to use PCM.

The HD200 can't decode DTS so it passes it straight onto the Soundbar/Receiver. Unfortunately the Vizio soundbar *also* can't decode DTS so it can't do anything with it either.

If the BR's got a AC3 soundtrack you can try that, otherwise you need to rip & process the BR with ClownBD to convert the audio track to AC3. I've got the same problem, its a bit of a pain, but not to bad once you've done it a few times.

I'll have to take a look at ClownDB, sounds exactly like what I need, thanks!

In my experience, converting audio with Clown BD resulted in out of sync audio, 10 times out of 10. I bit the bullet on an HD300 back when they were available just so I could watch all Blu Rays regardless of audio track availability. Might be a less tempting option now that they're a scarcity...

I use EAC3TO to extract both the DTSHD track and usually have EAC3TO convert that same track to AC3 even if an AC3 track exists (because a lot of times I find the AC3 track is some bonus content and not actual movie track).

I then mux the 3 streams (video, AC3, and DTSHD) into an mkv using mkvmerge. On my HD200, I playback and it picks the AC3 track (which I mux as first audio track), and on the HD300, I use options command to pick the HD audio track for receivers that can support it.

It is a pain, but results in files that have no playback issues through HD200/300 so it is worth it...still trying to get PC clients to playback nicely but that's a separate issue same day I'll spend the time to solve...

I use AudioConverter It makes it much simpler, and it's a couple of clicks to convert the audio.
