Favorites Recorded 2X if back to back schedule and watching 1st of 2 delayed

Not sure if this is a V9 thing but whenever I watch a favorite on the HD-PVR while it is recording and the same episode is re-broadcasted immediately afterwards, then SageTV records two complete instances of the episode. In this case, I am watching the 1st of 2 back to back episodes slightly delayed. For example, "The Americans" on FX. I understand why SageTV would continue to record into the 2nd episode on the same channel, but when I stop (sometime during the 2nd episode) it should delete the 2nd file. Anyone know about this or how to fix?

I think Sage might keep any favorite that gets recorded no matter why it got recorded. I saw it keep a copy that I watched live from the guide when I already had that episode recorded months ago. I'm still running v7. I could see a legit case if you missed the first part of the first recording then caught it on the second one, you'd want both. With OTA you could have a bad signal and want to pick the best quality episode yourself. I think aggressively preserving favorites is a good thing.

That is a good point. I would rather have two copies of the episode then have one that is incomplete. I am not 100% sure, but I don't recall this happening until recently, though, which is why I thought it might be a V9 thing.
