V9 over V7 on Win XP issues
I installed V9 over my V7. Sage v9 immediately took me into the configuration wizard, which I thought was strange. I went through the steps and the first odd thing was that none of my video directories were showing. I entered the proper directories. Later, Sage wanted me to resetup my tuners. Since I was going to use the old EPG service for now, Sage asked for my license, which I entered. The tuners show up, but all of the channels are active. My V7 settings were not kept. For some reason some of my custom setup settings were not setup. I had to go back and primarily reset up the Malore options.
When I got out of the config wizard I restarted Sage and several issues exist: - all of my recordings are showing as current and archived - favorites are not available - One of my tuners cards can not display video even though the signal is 100% (Hauppauge WinTV 7164 works, the Silicondust HD Homerun cannot show video. Worked with Sage V7) So the upgrade has partially worked. Thanks, Steve BTW, for anyone installing V9 on Win XP, Sage might ask for the latest Windows Installer Service to be loaded. Windows update did not find it. I found the latest, v4.5, on Microsoft's web site as a downloadable distributable file. This took care of my Sage V9 update issue. Did you install v9 in the same location where v7 was installed (same folder)?
Are you running Sage the same way (stand-alone vs Service mode)? If using service mode, did you set the service to use the same username and password as before (using the Sage Service Control Panel)? Favorites are stored in wiz.bin, so you can shut down Sage and copy the wiz.bin from your v7 backup into the Sage v9 folder, then re-start Sage and it should use it.

And if you copy both the Sage.properties and Wiz.bin file into the SageTV folder from the backup...everything should be like it was before. The only explanation I have for this is that it was installed to a different folder like Tiki mentioned (or as a different user which doesn't have permissions to read/write the files from the prior install).

I did screw up on the directory. I thought I loaded V9 into the same directory but I ended up loading it into a new subdirectory.
Everything seems to work fine now. The Silicondust tuner was still not able to show preview video. The correct stations showed up in the set up video sources, but I could not preview any channel even though the channels show 100% signal. The issue was I blocked Sage from receiving external traffic. The Silicondust tuner showed up on the Windows exception list as being allowed (the tuner is LAN based). The solution came when I added Sage to the blocked exceptions list in Windows. Thanks, Steve Last edited by SteveP; 03-26-2017 at 06:36 PM. |
