Imported video format for lowest cpu utilization

I'm just getting into setting up Sage in my house. I plan to have a central media pc with the tuner cards in my wiring closet and use MediaMVP's on all of my tv's. Since all of my video will be streamed to the MVP, what is the best format for imported videos to be in so that sage uses the smallest amount of CPU possible? So far, I've tried WMV and MPG-2 and both seem to peg the CPU.

Also, how do I automatically convert recordings into ipod format?

Thanks

The MVP natively plays mpeg2 video with its hardware decoder, so that should be the best format for playing videos on the MVP with the least server cpu time.

The default setup doesn't have an option to automatically convert recordings -- you would have to tell it to convert specific recordings or whole groups of recordings. Check the customizations section of the forum for a one that could set it up automatically -- see the customizations index there.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a recommendation for a specific converter? I've downloaded ffmpeg and am in the process of converting a video with that, so I'll see how that looks when it's finished.
