Has anyone used a USB remote to come out of S3 standby

I have been to every forum I can think of to find out how to use a remote control to bring a computer out of S3 standby.

I have successfully set this up for a usb mouse, that was easy, but an IR remote seems to be a huge problem. I am not sure if this is a windows issue or what. Is it possible that it can tell which usb ports it can wake from even though they are all powered by the bios in s3 standby?

Anyone have any ideas or success stories on how to do this?

This is now in the hardware forum section -- check this forum's sticky about "Information Resources for Remotes, Receivers, and IR Blasters"; it has a link for waking a PC using the USB-UIRT. There may also be some useful links in the Similar Threads area, below.

I installed MCE standby tool - http://www.xs4all.nl/~hveijk/mst/indexe.htm

It takes care of all the registry settings etc and works fine with my MCE remote

Cheers

Tim

I checked out the sticky for setting up a remote to bring a PC out of standby and due to my ignorance, I am not able to successfully set this up. The Sage gml file I have found on the net does not seem to load in the new girder app. I get an error when trying to open it.

It would seem to me that many people would want to do this to conserve power and I wonder if there is a more up-to-date reference on how to set this up or maybe something a little more straight forward for the novice.
