Convert - audio dropouts?

Something new has cropped up recently when compressing HDPVR recorded TS files: audio dropouts. It's almost like a clipping/limiter effect and it occurs every few seconds in the converted file. So far it's most pronounced on recently recorded HD shows from my DirecTV receiver. The originals play back fine and are recorded in Great quality. I'm using the AppleTV-High Quality Widescreen method for compression. Conversions from either my HDHR or my old PVR-150 MPEG's are OK and don't have this issue.

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone know how reliable HDPVR TS compression is supposed to be these days in any case?

I was hoping it would be fixed for me too in .18 because of this line in the release notes:

1. Fixed bug where the A/V sync could be off in H264 transport stream transcodes w/ AAC audio

But I'm still having the problem. What's the date of your SageTVTranscoder.exe? Mine's June 8th.

Same.

I only had the problem with HE-AAC audio and submitted a sample for SageTV to test. Mine were not recorded using an HDPVR, so it would probably pay to do a bug submission on it.

Done.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this since there are a lot of HD-PVR users out there. But maybe not a lot try to compress the files. The compression creates a hint of softness but is worth the big trade off in size if one is low on space.

Unhappy Add my name too

I just noticed the same thing. I hadn't really watched any of the converted recordings I made until today, but all of the ones recorded from HD-PVR and converted contain audio dropouts. As a test I converted several recordings using different profiles, no matter which was used the audio dropouts happened.

FYI. The Sage team gave me a new jar file to test out and they apparently have figured out the problem.

well, it looks like the audio dropouts have been fixed (with 6.5.20), but now the audio is out of sync again with the HD-PVR file transcodes.
