HD200 volume control

Does anyone have an idea why the (remote) volume control works differently on my HD200s? Be patient folks, I'm a newbie

I can pull audio from both the analog and spdif connections at the same time, but (on one unit) I can control volume only on the analog connected TV, not on the spdif connected one.

On another I can control volume on the spdif connected TV.

On a third I cannot control volume at all.

I've change the audio settings several times, to no avail.

Also since the last firmware upgrade we can no longer select from analog, spdif and hdmi, and as a newbie I'm not sure the difference between bitstream and digital pcm!? Was there any documentation assoc. with this firmware upgrade that explains it?

Any/all help appreciated!

Mick

I think the volume only controls the analog outputs.

The toslink on mine is not affected by volume control or mute, so I assumed that digital signal was passed to the amp for volume/mute.

Depends on the source. If the HD200 is outputting AC3 or DTS, it will output the exact bitstream that the file contains. This does not allow for any volume adjustment. For a stereo mpeg or other format, it outputs it as PCM, and CAN control the volume levels.
