SageTV HD200 Volume Control

Hi All.

I got the SageTV HD 200 working beautifully watching great HD recordings from our HD PVR.

The volume control does not seem to work. When I hit the up/down volume, the icon pops up with the volume level and I can go up/down on the volume bar, however, nothing happens to the volume itself.

The only way I can control the volume is with the TV control. In a few recordings, I am able to use the HD200 volume control, but 99% of the recordings I cannot.

Is there an option or what is the magic to getting the HD200 to UP/DOWN the volume from the HD200 itself? My HD200 is connected via HDMI to our LCD HD TV.

if you are using digital audio (either over hdmi or spdif) then the volume control does nothing. You must use your AVR or TV to control the volume. The volume control does/should work for the analog outputs.

So if I connect my HD200 to my HD TV using the the RCA (red, yellow) jacks, then I can use the HD200 to control the volume? This wont interfer with the my current HDMI hookup?

I currently have the HD200 connected to my HD TV via HDMI only.

to use the HD200 audio control you need:
-Connect the HD200 Audio to TV with RCA RED/WHITE. The Yellow is for composite video. You don't want to use that because its 480i and crappy quality.

If you're television supports using HDMI for video and RCA for audio, Great you're done. The problem you may run into though is that usually TV's dont support combining inputs like that (video from HDMI, audio from analog RCA).

You might have to use component video + analog audio to get HD video and have the ability to use the HD200 to control the volume.

Thanks - Sorry, I meant white/red audio cables.

I need to look at my HD TV menu and see if I can change the audio input to come through the RCA jacks.
