And Ebay will pull anyone just trying to sell a client software license. So that's going to really limit things. Only way around that is 21-day recycles or that option which shall not be named and which I do not advocate or support.

Still watching the Boxee thing with great interest (Yes, your posts, tmiranda), and going to pick up a Boxee and try it soon.

Also wonder in the back of my head if Google has Dish as an acquisition target since GTV integrates with Dish as a DVR appliance. Dish got Blockbuster, and it would go a long way to eliminating the never-ending Tivo thing, whereby Tivo has declined into little more than a patent troll company like, say, Rambus is to computer memory.

Then again, Google has never been into hardware, so a satellite company is probably far-fetched, but it would instantly solve the whole ISP bandwidth cap/speed/coverage issues, give them an instant user base, really threaten DirecTV, and give them a small but decent footing with Blockbuster content.

I wonder if Jeff K has seen this thread. By current count
271 client licenses (pure profit)
72 placeshifter licenses (pure profit)
40 server licenses (pure profit)
543 HD300s (i wonder if they couldnt do a small batch run of like 600 of them and make a nice quick profit and really spread some goodwill to the former customer base).

I would say Jeff has almost certainly seen this (and most other) threads.

Let's do a little math:

271 * 30 = $8,130
72 * 30 = $2,160
40 * 80 = $3,200
543 * 100 (wild guess on the profit margin) = $54,300

Total = $67,790. Peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

The goodwill would be priceless so you can bet that if Google could continue to sell the stuff they would.

The point remains the same, they are not selling the product for a good reason; we just don't know the reason and probably won't until some announcements are made. I'm just not buying into the theory that they are not selling the product because they want to be evil, mean, nasty or just don't care because Jeff got a big pile of money. They have gone out of their way to NOT sell the product for reasons that are not publicly known.
