Looking for a new @SageTVOpenSrc Twitter account owner

I created the @SageTVOpenSrc Twitter account shortly after it was announced SageTV was going to be open-sourced and so far I haven't tweeted much. I'm not spending enough time staying current in the forums and would like to see the account be more useful. If you're interested in taking ownership of it please send me a PM. I would like to give the opportunity to somebody who wants to contribute.

One of those few tweets was a reply to me. heh. I'm not on twitter as much as I used to be, I need to un-follow 1 particular person that's clogging up my news feed with tons of tweets. Useful, but "he" tweets way too much and tends to repeat himself a lot through the day.

Somewhat OT, but I still don't get the appeal of Twitter. It's thousands of people all trying to get your attention in 128 characters or less. I really don't care what some singer had for breakfast or what he/she thinks about the latest dress style. My teenage daughter thinks it's great. Probably a generational thing.

The best description I saw for Facebook vs Twitter was this:

Quote:
Twitter makes you like people you've never met and Facebook makes you hate people you know in real life.

That quote pretty much sums it up, Skirge.

As someone who despises social networking (never had or used FB, MyS, etc, but joined G+ for the Sage folks very briefly), I'll tell you what I like about Twitter. First, it forces you to be succinct when saying anything; with kids' attention spans these days, this is huge. Second, it's no big deal to unfollow someone. Third, I'm there to read what people I have some sort of interest in are up to and how it relates to me. For example, I follow a couple of indie game developers to see what's up with current games I'm playing or what their next game might be. I follow one actor from a show I enjoy because he's hilarious and doesn't tweet very often. I have one follower (most likely an accident ) and report anyone else who follows me because I rarely tweet and it's never anything relevant to anyone other than the individual it was directed at.

Currently, I follow a whopping 7 people and an average day results in ~12 tweets to read. At 140 chars , it takes all of 3 minutes to read them all. If you use it like FB, you're doing it wrong.

I mainly follow IT Security folk on twitter. It's a great place to quickly find out something is going on in the world of IT.
