I reported this in the sageMC thread, but I guess, this is the correct place to report this problem. Is there an updated jar file available somewhere?

Anyone else having this issue? I'm not sure if this problem is a SageMC imdb problem or a shared IMDB jar file.

Was working a week ago. Now all machines in my home are not displaying the actor photos. Possibly a change to the IMDB site caused this issue?

Did you cycle through the settings mentioned in the other thread? Once I did that the photos began appearing. Maybe reboot after, though you shouldn't have to.

I've run into a little problem with saving trivia, quotes etc...

I saved Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix to DB and it created a properties file that was too large. This corrupted my DB and was causing Sage to consistently crash.
From Sage Support:
Quote:
The problem was due to a 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'
metadata file which was more than 32K in size (that's a limit on the length of the description). If you remove that one then you should be OK. We've updated SageTV so in the future it'll cut them down itself so it won't cause corruption.
I tried setting Save Trivia, Quotes Etc... to "NO" and was going to start saving again. But the Triva, Quotes and everything is still saving?

Any ideas as to what might be happening?

I'm running latest SageTV, latest .my file reading, latest Dynamic Menus and latest IMDB

I believe this is more of a RW Metadata problem and not an IMDB search problem. I had the same problem with Pulp Fiction. It seems the more popular a movie is the more likely you will run into this problem. The imdb search is doing the correct thing downloading all the info the RW Metadata customization does the actual saving.

Months later...

Any word on when this will be fixed? This is a problem with the IMDB code which affects both the standard STV and SageMC according to Dirk.

Looks like it's caused by the change to the Add/Change Photo thing on the IMDB site. It will require a JAR update to fix.

I just moved and my intention was to upgrade (finally!) to V6 with the move.
I've just begun to work on porting my plugins to V6.. When that's done and I switch over to V6, I'll see if I can fix this if neilm (or someone else) doesn't first. But it's probably a month out....

actor photos fixed

I (THINK, I) fixed the actor photo problem. IMDB changed their html code so the image was never recognized. To update imdbsearch, exit Sage, unzip the attached file and copy the jar into the JARs directory of sage.

So far, it's worked on all the actors I've searched. Here's the thing though, IMDB used to have a very specific line that identified the next img as a "headshot" photo. That line is now gone, which means I had to parse the html for a possibly non-unique line of text, which may cause problems in the future. On the other hand I suppose that's true no matter what, since IMDB may change the html again.

As a side note, if you save a copy of the old nielm_sageimdb.jar, MOVE that file out of the jars directory otherwise it'll interfere with this one.

Hi Flashbacck,

Thanks so much for looking into this!

I think you got the actor picture working again. But your version of "nielm_sageimdb.jar" adds this blue color border around the biography text that doesnt belong there.

Also, it looks like the actor picture isnt centered.

Any chance you could post a version of it that address these issues too?

Thanks so much!

hmm... The problem is, I didn't change anything except the imageURL parsing. Those sound like things that would have to be changed in the STVi, which I know nothing about.
