What is the best way to update this in my current rig.. can I simply import the plugin over.. or do I shutdown sage and then copy this new version directly over the old one and not have to re-import anything?

Re-importing won't leave two copies or any type of residual in the stv will it?? I always wondered what would happen if you imported the same stvi more than once..

Thanks!!!!!!!

Depends on the STVI - some can be re-installed over themselves, others leave a mess! This one will leave a mess, so don't bother trying it.

Download the v4.0 from this link:
http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm...import_4_0.zip

Nielm, I have a problem. I never see the same thing you/others do on the screen. Attached my Harrison Ford screen:
http://toongal1021.tripod.com/ford.rar

extracted 2 JARs into SageTV JAR directory (sageutls dated 2/5/06). stvi in SageTV3 directory. restarted SageTV server/client. reinstalled all stvi's fresh w/ flachbar batch stvi installer. worked.

(side question: does your dynamic menu system work for the stock STV? I've heard some have problems with it.)

observation: SageTV is installed to C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies, not SageTV, as it used to be. Issue? (Inherited directory structure from ToonGal, if it makes a difference.)

System:
java: jre1.5.0_07
Sage: v5.0.4.92

Thanks!

file is not acessible: can you attach a JPG to the post?

Re install, you may have missed out a part:
extracted 2 JARs into SageTV JAR directory (sageutls dated 2/5/06).
stvi in SageTV3 directory.
restarted SageTV server/client.
>>>load sagetv3.xml
reinstall all stvi's fresh w/ flachbar batch stvi installer.

> (side question: does your dynamic menu system work for the stock STV? I've heard some have problems with it.)
It should *only* work with the stock STV I use it all the time!

> observation: SageTV is installed to C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies, not SageTV, as it used to be. Issue?
Nope -- just so long as you unpack the zip into the correct program dir...

Silly boy he is... My tripod home page is the worst place to put picture information. I stuck it on HIS home page. lol. As you can see below, there's nothing under Filmography, no picture, etc.

Ok, now here you got me puzzled. sagetv3.xml??? hurm.

Here's what I did (yielding same results):
- stopped SageTV client/service
- recopied all your JARs, STVs, etc. into correct places
- started SageTV service/client
- loaded my copy of SageTV3.stv (called SageTV3new.stv)
- imported all stvi's w/ flachbar (now using SageTV3new-14.xml)

No clue as to what I could be missing. IMDB import never really worked for me from the start. Don't have any idea if it is me, something on my system, or other. Any advice appreciated. Happy to provide more detail as you might deem necessary.

Thanks again for all the help, hun!

Here's my flachbar if useful:

Replicated directory structure as in the install files.

-- yep since quite a while, STV's have a .xml extension -- the stock STV of V5 is sagetv3.xml.

About the only thing I can think of that would cause no picture and no filmographies is an incorrect nielm_sageimdb.JAR file -- the correct one should be dated 31/Aug/2006 16:43 and be 39Kb Check the JARs subdirectory of the Sage program dir...

Also check that you have no
net/sf/sageplugins... subdirectories from the Sage program dir... If there are, delete them all and restart Sage! (These contain older .class files that will take priority over the .jar files)

The Jar file that was in the imdb_search_import_4_0.zip was titled, "nielm_sageutls.jar" and did not overwrite the one that is in my Jar folder titled, "nielm_sageutils.jar" ...Both are 15 KB.. Spelling mistake???

Can someone verify?

Thanx

there are 2 JAR files in the zip file, and I have never delivered a nielm_sageutils.jar

The correct date/filesize =
14637 02-05-06 13:30

ToonGal avoided v5 for so long, so is of no real help. TG would still run v2.x had I not wanted to be 'current'.

Quick side question slightly off topic, so I don't have to open a new thread for this: Detailed setup>>advanced>>SageTV Appilcation Package (.STV File) seems to be where you set the active STV. It never seems to list .xml files. That's why I picked the .STV extension initially. Do I have to set this in an editor manually, instead of w/ the program? What am I missing?

Had right file. Not a problem.

Bingo! More 'junk' inherited from TG's old installation. Deleted the entire net/sf/... tree. Worked like a charm on restart. Thanks Nielm! Knew you would come through for us.

FYI. One minor odd behavior in my newfound success: when scrolling the menu up/down, 'Trivia' seems to be highlighted in light blue when focus switches away from it, instead of the dark blue background color. Odd, because it is the only one with this behavior and only happens when going DOWN (i.e. works fine losing focus going up). Even stranger, the light blue goes dark blue after going down past 'back' to 'general'. Truly interesting, and replicable on my side. Just thought you should know.

This is the case for 'old' STV files -- they do not know about the existance of XML-extension STV's You are missing a few 5.0 features, such as weather, and extra config settings for things like placeshifter.
You will have to edit the Sage.properties file (or SageClient.properties) to set
Code:
STV=C\:\\Program Files\\Frey Technologies\\SageTV\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageTV3.xml
As for Trivia: the light-blue highlight shows what is displayed on the right -- it should be the case for all of them when the button is not focussed (scroll through a filmography)

I get cast info on movies, but not on TV shows. Looking at a couple shows vs. movies, there are differences in the syntax for the cast listings, that may be enough to cause it not to work correctly.

it might be by design, but if you go into an individual episode, you'll get the cast....

Cool, thanks for the info. Unfortunately SageMC6.10a doesn't seem to have the episode lookup. So, it looks like I will have to wait for an update.

check the sageimdb.jar file size and date and compare it to what's in the zip file... it should have a date like 8/31/2006

Beyond that.. Neil will have to help..

as jbuskie said, confirm the installed jar against whats in the zipfile (39Kb, 08-31-06 16:43)
Make sure that you don't have any net/sf/sageplugins/sageimdb folders in the SageTV directory.
make sure you restarted Sage after unzipping.

And let me know of a movie name that shows the problem

ke6guj : series info cast lists... yes I see that too. I am sure it was working when I released it (dammit)...

I have verified that the file is the correct date and size.

I don't even have a NET directory.

I also have verified that I restarted (by restarting again)...

Still no luck. No CAST or Director/Producer on any show.

Quick question that I'm not sure will be of any importance.

But did you guys start with a fresh STV? Or did you try to reimport over the old version??
