Back to the basics: Favorites questions
I probably should have asked these questions the first time I started using sageTV. I know it must be something very simple. I didnt see anything in the manual. Here it is.... how do I add a ranges for favorites settings? Maybe, some kind of control-key sequence or insert key?
The "Year:" option, I can only enter one value in the "Year:" setting; which is not that useful. I've tried double-clicking, right-clicking, etc.. but I cant get it to set a range so it records anything greater or equal the year. For example, to record all action movies released the year 2002 and newer. In the "Channels" setting, I want to select the channels from 700-799 (all my premium HD channels). Or, at the minimum, select a few channels. The "Airtime:" setting defaults to a one hour time range. There has to be a way to change it to a larger window of time; for example, movies between 11pm and 5am. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with the way it is now. "Airs on Day:" setting. Changing it to weekends only, or weekdays.

This question is a little confusing. What kind of favorite are you trying to set up, a particular show? category? Are you using the default STV, Malore menus, SageMC?

Favorites look the same both in sageMC and the default STV. I actually put the examples above.

Thats the problem Gerry. I can't change the values of a SageMC "Series" the way I mentioned above. For me, the standard STV favorites and the page where I make specific settings changes for "Series" looks the same.
For example, like the year range setting I mentioned above. I only see a field to enter a year (using the + or -) to change the year. I dont know how to add the second year to complete the range. Same goes for all the other items such as Airtime. Is there some kind of special key sequence to change the range? Could someone show me a very specific example of how to change, for example, in sageMC the Airtime so instead of 8-9pm (or something like that) to 8pm-4am? Thanks for your help, Michael Quote:

^Bump^ I feel bad for bumping this, but I honesty cant figure this out. Maybe I didnt word it the right way. But how do I specifically add the "series" scenerio examples below in SageMC? For me, my Series menu page and Favorites menu page look the same (except for my custom background).
1. Record all Thriller movies (2004 and newer). 2. Record all Adult movies between 11pm-5am. 3. Recording all Comedy movies on channels 700-799.

I don't believe those options are available in SageMC. You should be able to switch to the default STV to set them up and they will stick when you switch back.

Hey Mike, thanks for the late night reply! Okay, I know youre going to think I'm kidding, but how the heck do I do it in the default STV? LOL! I know I'm probably missing something very obvious, but I swear both favorites (default STV) / series (SageMC) look the same in every way except for my custom background. I know that these are pretty common scenerios that someone would probably want and from the replies here, it looks doable either in sageTV STV or SageMC.
Thanks again, Michael

LOL, okay, now I know that none of this is included in either the standard STV or SageMC; except for adding more than one channel. Hmmm... First things comes to mind is... am I the first person who has thought of wanting to do something like this? I didnt expect ranges not to be included at all, which is why I kept looking for a way to do it. I'll suggest this type of flixibility to sageTV support... Thanks anyway guys!!
